Bosch VE Fuel Injector 3200 Governor Spring

The Bosch VE Injector allows the engine to be revved up to 2,500 rpm. By changing the spring in the injector, you are able to rev the engine to 3,200 rpm. What that means is you can stay in gear long, which is particularly helpful on a hill.

This is the most complicated installation of the three VE upgrades I had planned. However, it was supposed to take 2-3 hours, but it only took 40 mins. It helps that the injector was not installed in the engine, but given that it requires access from the top, I can’t see it being much harder to do in place. There are plenty of comprehensive guides on the internet, which I recommend following but this will give you an idea of what is involved.

First step is to disengage the fuel pin.

Then remove the throttle.

Then remove the top of the pump to allow access to the spring, being careful not to damage anything inside the injector!

Once the spring is replaced, it’s simply a matter of reversing the steps, taking care to ensure everything is aligned the way it was originally!

I found this article on Driveline an interesting read on the various upgrade options for the DAF’s engine.
