Stripping the Parts from the Chassis

Step one in getting a military truck ready to convert to an Overland Truck is to lose some excess weight. Military vehicles are overbuilt and designed to be treated badly, so we started by removing the sand guard (which protected the engine fan) and side lockers.

Goodbye Flat Bed

We then posted the flat bed on Craig’s List for a $100. This led to a chance meeting with the amazing Hans who lives off-grid and wanted the bed for one of his trucks. He owns a small parcel of land and has used all the timber to build a couple of log cabins and an extensive workshop for his blacksmith business. His ingenuity and passion were very inspiring as we started our own adventure.
