Our goal is to turn Eva into an Overland Truck. Basically, a truck capable of surviving off-grid for weeks on end and reaching the remotest places of the planet.
In the DAF community there are two iconic builds, Puddles and Matilda, built by Just-Escape. The amazing photos above were taken by Matthew Payne, who lives and travels the world in Matilda. If we are able to achieve anything close to these trucks, we will be delighted.
So what did we want from our Overland Truck?
- Comfortable seating in the cab for two adults and two pre-teen children
- Range of 1,000 miles, using both a larger fuel tank and jerry cans
- Can safely cruise on a freeway at 50-55mph, safely climb and ascend mountains, as well as handling dirt roads in remote areas
- A habitat that has a master bed, a bunkbed, seating for four, a basic kitchen, a toilet and a shower
- Ability to live off grid for a week, and be self-sufficient with water, food and electricity
- Weight less than 10 tons ideally less…
