Well, we’ve owned Eva for just over a month now and we have had a chance to take stock of her condition. In general, we’re really happy, no major surprises but there’s definitely some work to be done.

The design of the cab had a few flaws, so there’s some common places where water can leak into the cab. To make matters worse, that water tended to gather underneath the passenger\driver mats, where it had nowhere to go. So as expected, there is a reasonable amount of rust under the floor mats. We couldn’t see any obvious leaks from the gun turret, but on both the passenger and driver side water was clearly leaking from the front of the cab where the sealant had perished. Other than that, the cab is pretty filthy and smelly, I doubt it had much of a clean in 30-years. There are no missing pieces dashboard pieces, but on the passenger side there’s a large crack in the fiberglass panel.

On the outside of the cab, there’s multiple layers of paint and plenty of dents and scratches. The driver’s door has a big dent, this is another common issue, where the door was left to swing forward when the cab was raised and only stops when it hits the bumper. The front-wheel arches are notoriously prone to rust but ours looked to be in reasonable condition, a few dents but no big holes or weak areas from rust.

The bumpers are definitely twisted, it’s not clear what the right position is. Judging by the dents on the driver side bumper, that side is higher than it is meant to be.

Finally, the rest of the chassis looks to be in great condition, some rust but only on the surface particularly around the suspension.
